Mahesh Bhatt got an extortion call threatening his family

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt apparently received a phone call demanding 50 lakhs. The unknown caller threatened to kill his daughter, popular actress Alia Bhatt and his wife if the demands were not fulfilled.
Mahesh Bhatt filed a police case in Mumbai's Juhu police station saying the first call was made on 26th February and demanded to deposit the amount in a Lucknow-based bank branch. Bhatt did not take the call seriously at first, but when he got continuos messages by a man claiming to be the gang leader saying that he will not hesitate to shoot his wife and daughter, Mahesh reported a complaint. The police are investigating the matter and more information is awaited. In the meanwhile, security for Mahesh, Alia and Soni has been beefed up.
