Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic saga "Bajirao Mastani" collects major trophies, including the best director and best film overall, at the South African International Film Festival, also known as the Rapid Lion Awards. Although the award shows concentrates on African country films, international films are also nominated in a special category for BRICS countries, and Bhansali swept the trophy away. Beating entries from Russia and host country South Africa, Mastani, Deepika Padukone was awarded best actress in a leading role.
Bhansali also bagged awards like best of BRICS, best film editing Rajesh Pandey and cinematography Sudeep Chatterjee. The film was also nominated for the best actor in a leading role Ranveer Singh, sound editing and original song "Ab Tohe Jane Doongi".
Hansal Mehta's "Aligarh" was also nominated for the best actor category, while the film won for direction and editing and best original screenplay.
