Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru aka D16 by Karthick Naren, is a superlative attempt by the 22 Years Young Director (Karthick Naren) to deliver an intriguing thriller.
You read it right, He is 22 and He has a bundle of talent. He is surely an import from the tomorrow's world of directors. D16 doesn't have the usual plot, No commercial elements, yet it is a brilliant suspense thriller to watch.
The movie doesn't boast any high profile actors except for Rahman and Delhi Ganesh who appears for a single shot. So we didn't expect much interns of performance. Yet It has to be mentioned that Rahman has done more than a decent job with his role.
Rahman (Deepak) plays the lead role as a Cop who is forced to retire after he suffers a major accident in pursuit of a psychopath. The story gets really gripping, When Deepak is asked to recall the mysteries of an unsolved case that lead to his accident and several other deaths.
There a quiet a few areas where the characters converse in english, which clearly shows the fearless nature of the Young director. There are a lot of good natured characters in this movie, which could very well be the reflection of the writer/director himself. Apart from all this good factors, D16 also comes up with a clueless climax. Which would make us give it a thumbs up.
To sum it up, It was pretty much evident that things were cautiously put in place rather than happening naturally. In spite of that, the director still wins full marks for successfully carrying forward the suspense throughout the journey.
Verdict : Seriously Worth Watching Once and A big thumbs up
