| Is Ranveer Singh paid less than Deepika Padukone in 'Padmavati'? |
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's another dream project Padmavati is all set to go on floors earlier next year. The film starring Deepika Padukone in the title role with Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor as Alauddin Khilji and Rawal Ratan Singh respectively is one of the most anticipated releases. Reports have been going around about Deepika Padukone getting Rs 11 crore for the film whereas Ranveer Singh is to be paid between 7-8 crore.
When asked during a recent interview Ranveer Singh who is also a part of the film with Deepika gracefully accepted that she is being paid more and the reason he gave deserves a lot of respect. Ranveer did not deny that he is being paid less than Deepika but that he's proud of this fact. He said,"Let me put it this way, if i am the leading man of a film, and if the filmmaker is asking me to support him in a certain aspect so as not to burden the budget of the film, I will do whatever I can to support his vision."
But this is not the first time. Deepika Padukone was 10th on the Forbes' list of world's highest paid actresses is paid higher than Amitabh Bachchan in 'Piku'. Given that male actors are paid much more than female actors in the film industry, news of Deepika Padukone getting paid more than Ranveer Singh comes as a refreshing change.
