Emma Watson Makes A Beautiful Belle in Disney's Remake of 'Beauty And The Beast' |
Emma recently opened up about how the role of Belle in the new film will differ from the animated version. 'In the animated movie, it's her father who is the inventor, and we actually co-opted that for Belle, 'Emma told Entertainment Weekly. 'I was like, 'Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn't fit in, other than she liked books. Also, what is she doing with her time' So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead. So, yeah, we made Belle an inventor.'
A featurette released in September showed Dan Stevens (Beast) and Emma reciting a few lines during the table read. Until now, Disney has only offered a small glimpse of what's to come, including a teaser which shows just Emma's eyes as she reaches for the Enchanted Rose. Beauty And The Beast is scheduled for release on March 17, 2017 and is the latest of Disney's live-action offerings.
Anyone else getting a touch of nostalgia for the 1991 original? It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since the animated classic first came out" but we're hopeful the live-action remake will be as good as Disney's 2015 version of Cinderella.
